Eirin's Office
Apology to the Demonic Matron

goddess-and-demons:

The maids on guard of Pandemonium were surprised to see this outsider again. One that radiated an otherworldly beauty similar to their divine mother. Grips tightened on their halberds, standing at full attention to appear both intimidating and to dissuade any notion they were slacking off. Nope. No slacking here.

The lead maid, Olivia, responded to Eirin’s request. “Ma’dam Yagokoro, it is an honor to have you visit Makai once more.” The maid stood aside along with her sister, allowing Eirin inside. A nameless devil in a tour guide uniform greeting Eirin within the fortress walls and providing escort to her.

“Miss Eirin~!” Shinki’s voice chimed musically as the goddess descended literally within a column of light. Her boots clicking on the smooth marble floor, she quickly rushed to greet the doctor, taking her hands into her own. “It’s so wonderful to see you again, Miss Eirin. Are you here because of your fiancee? Alyona came home to visit a while ago, so she’s still here in Makai if you were worried where she ran off too. Don’t worry, Yumeko is with her now. She must’ve just been homesick.” The goddess giggled, clearly unaware of Eirin’s intentions.

Eirin allowed herself to be led quietly through the great crystal halls of Shinki’s palace, the quiet tapping of feet only broken once the goddess herself descended into the room with a shout. The doctor had no time to offer a greeting to the woman before suddenly Shinki had already launched into her own dialogue. The word ‘fiance’ caused Eirin to stiffen somewhat. Was that what Shinki had presumed of their relationship? That was very bad, at least from the perspective of what was about to be disclosed. Still, Eirin did her best to work up a smile for her host, however faint it was.

“Thank you for having me so unexpectedly, Lady Shinki. I knew not whether I could call on you here.” Rather, she had no idea if she had even been welcome here without knowing how much about the situation Shinki knew. It had been at least a month already, so it surprised Eirin that she had not gotten suspicious of anything. However, such was the generally naive nature of the goddess. Unfortunately, Eirin had to shatter those perceptions in order to make things right.

“Indeed, you are correct that I am here to see Alyona. I needed your assistance if only to determine her location so that I may go and speak with her.” Eirin shifted, her pose taking a more vulnerable, apologetic stance. “I also have a need to speak with you concerning a certain matter. I would beg your forgiveness if I thought that I deserved it, but as things are I simply wish for you to properly know what has happened as of late. Unfortunately, not everything is as well as you might think.”

((Well I don’t really swear so that’s an interesting one. I occasionally use hell, damn, or damned in proper context. I have used the word ‘shit’ in the scatological sense before, and I have said ‘fuck’ once as a slip when I was echoing someone while running on sleep deprivation. I cannot, to my knowledge, ever recall swearing our cursing out of anger, and the worst that I’ll get will be pseudo-curses like ‘crap’ on a normal basis.))

TMI Friday?

adelineritter:

I realised I’ve never really taken part of the TMI events. Most of the fault is the time zone and I don’t want to mess my sleeping schedule too much on work week hurts so good on the morning. So uh… TMI asks?

Don’t worry people who don’t want to read “odd” stuff. They will be properly tagged and under read more. Examples; religion, nsfw, politics. The Thee Holy Triggers of Tumblr.

((Hope Addiemun doesn’t mind me piggy-backing this since I’m more or less the same way. Ask mun or muse something TMI I suppose.))

The simple bit of scolding that Eirin gave to Medicine made her flinch. “It’s not like anyone can come here and leave ALIVE.” She folded her arms and puffed her face in dissapointment. At least Eirin didn’t want any of her suzuran, that’s a thought to keep in mind. “Why would you want to come here? You’re a doctor aren’t you? It would be ironic if the doctor were to die.”

“I suppose that it would disappoint you to know that I am immune to all manner of poisons, Miss Medicine. I have nothing to fear in your field here.” Eirin spoke calmly with a fairly neutral smile. She had no intention of angering the doll, really. It was just stating facts. “And you would be able to interact with more people if you were to leave this field occasionally. I can personally vouch for the fact that not everyone is as horrible as you seem to make them out to be.”

Kaguya shifts slightly in her seat. “Excellent work as usual, Eirin. You have my thanks. And I would very much like to hear any recipes that you believe would be popular among the rabbits… and I suppose I should ask Udonge for help. My, this is actually kind of exciting!”

Eirin nodded her agreement with a small laugh to show her levity at the suggestion. Any small part of genuine excitement on the part of the princess was always enough reason for the doctor herself to be happy. Over a thousand years the novelty of many things that people might take enjoyment in had slowly worn away due to endless repetition. Thus, the little impulses of new potentials could always bring out a smile from the sage.

“Mmm, well if you do take my assistant’s help then I will give her the time off in order to assist you properly. It is still a little too soon to divide her attention too much, yes? Besides, I do feel that I monopolize your pet a little by keeping her so busy. Just let us know whenever you would like to begin and I will be sure that she is available.”

The girl gasped at how there were rabbits here and there, as well as the fact that they would commence any order given to them. “Are all of these rabbits yours?” A rabbit passed by and Koishi gave it a small pat on the head. As observed as if skipped away to do what activities rabbits do. She clasped her hands and then rested her elbows on the table.

“I guess I am what you just said, and yes. Yes it does make sense.” She sat on the aforementioned chair with a smile on her face, it was another chance for someone to treat her as a guest instead of vice-versa. “So, do you enjoy Gensokyo Ms.Blue-Red?”

“I would not say that they are ‘mine,’ Miss Koishi. Rather, the rabbit youkai and I have an agreement that permits us to live here with them. It also has them assist myself and Kaguya with the household duties and in welcoming guests such as yourself.” As if on cue, a girl with short, dark hair and floppy white rabbit ears came in with a tray of bread and cheese, setting it out on the desk. Another had a tray of tea just behind the first. Once they dropped off their burdens Eirin gave an appreciative nod and the girls departed without a word.

The doctor began to pour tea for the both of them, gesturing to the food for Koishi. “Go ahead and eat as much as you like, Miss Koishi. We have plenty here. As for the question regarding my place here, I suppose that after a thousand years I would have to enjoy this place to still be here. It is a contented life for all intents and purposes.” The woman’s smile returned to looking at Koishi with a warm smile. “And what of yourself? Do you enjoy your life in Gensokyo, Miss Koishi? Have you been recently to your home to see your sister?”

“O-of course it was…  You aren’t my mechanic nor my owner.”  Ruukoto stammered, “I was given the mission to mind the shrine, so naturally I’d answer questions…”

She had a difficulty figuring out how far her duty went for minding the shrine.  Still she’d do her best with what she assumed was her job.

“T-there are those, where I’m from, who’d buy maids like me for those kinds of things.”

Mostly it was due to the fact they were property.  Androids like Ruukoto would always maintain their cute, young and innocent looks, which made them popular items for the perverted…  or desperate.  Ruukoto herself didn’t know this little fact, although she knew maids like her were often sold to some odious and shifty people in the stores.

“Minding the shrine does not necessarily imply answering personal questions, however.” Eirin shook her head lightly at the reply. Still, it was all rather fascinating. This girl was incredibly self-aware compared to most of the androids that she had come across in recent memory. The matter of ‘personal services’ was indeed a rather sour one to Eirin’s mind, but at least in Reimu’s care it was highly unlikely that Ruukuto herself would ever be subjected to such commands.

“Well then, I do have one more question, Miss Ruukuto, but it may be somewhat difficult to understand for you if your answer is ‘no.’ My question is whether or not you believe yourself to have a soul. Your self-awareness when you converse and your ability to feel embarrassed or nervous make it seem to me that you are not quite some normal android.” Eirin smiled gently, hoping to put Ruukuto slightly at ease despite the fairly personal inquiry.

Aromana glanced at Harmony upon hearing that Eirin was looking into Sin Youkai/ Sin aspects and rose an eyebrow before turning away to mumble to herself not wanting to interrupt their conversation.

Harmony smiled. “I hope it was not too much trouble for you miss Eirin, as for the remaining aspects in my world, Sloth, Envy, and Wrath are the only ones still active, As Pride who you know as Aromana’s Brother, Amadari who is the aspect of Lust, and the aspect of Greed have not shown a new incarnation as of yet,” Harmony places a hand on her chin thinking something over. “I wish I could tell you about how the three who live are doing but it has been a long time since I have met Alicia, or the other two,”

“No, Miss Harmony, I would not say that it was too much trouble. The worst of it was having to expose myself to proximity with the youkai of lust in this world. She was quite amicable about the entire ordeal, however, so things proceeded without incident. It was, however, quite the educating experience.”

Eirin shifted in her seat, bringing forth a sheet of notebook paper on which she began to draw what was obviously a magic circle of some unknown origin. “The idea that I had was, upon either the host being destroyed or the aspect being forced out by other means, to seal it within some inanimate object. Things already made for carrying and containing would be optimal, like a vase or jar with a lid. Regardless, you would simply need to draw the disembodied aspect into a seal like this with this other one around the container.” She began drawing a smaller seal with minute differences. “If my investigations are correct then this should be a rather reliable method for safely putting the aspects into remission for whatever time you need.”

“It’s that nurse-lady who took away my suzuran! Have you come to take more!? Haven’t you had ENOUGH!?”

“Really now, Miss Medicine, it is a wonder that nobody has attempted to silence you when all you seem to do is lash out at anyone who comes even remotely close. No, I do not require any more of your precious flowers, as I am growing some at my home. I was simply passing through.”

“Would you look a that. It is a pleasure to see you again, miss Yagoroko.” The merchant said, standing up and bowing politely towards the lunarian, his smile as kind as ever. “I suppose it is time for a change of clothes, as summer is behind the corner? Or is anything else needed?”

“Sir Rinnosuke.” Eirin gave a polite dip of her head to the shopkeeper. “I do suppose that some manner of lighter clothing would be in order, though it does stay relatively cool in the forest. Rather, I was here looking for books this time, before Miss Marisa simply steals them all.”
